Memo
To: Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners
From: Susie Morris, AICP, Planning and Zoning Manager
CC: File
Date: September 24, 2008
Re: Proposed Text Amendment C2008-04-ZT, Recreational Therapy Facility (Rural Setting)
o Attached you will find proposed text changes to amend the Cabarrus County Zoning
Ordinance to add Recreational Therapy Facilities as a permitted use.
o The use would be classified as a Conditional Use, requiring the applicant to obtain a
Conditional Use Permit in order for the use to take place on the property. In addition, there
are design standards associated with the use.
o This amendment is necessary because the Cabarrus County Zoning Ordinance currently
does not classify or set standards for recreational therapy facilities in a rural setting.
o The Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously at the September 18th meeting to
forward the proposed amendment to the Board of Commissioners for final consideration.
o Please read over the materials and be prepared to discuss the proposed text at the meeting
and to hold a public hearing regarding the proposed changes.
1
G-1
Item# 26
Attachment number 3
