CABARRUS COUNTY ' <br />~'~ BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ' <br />REGULAR MEETING ' <br />OCTOBER 20, 2008 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />1 <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />Aging -Contract for Title V Program or SCSEP (Senior Community Service <br />Employment Program) and Budget Amendment <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />SCSEP (Senior Community Service Employment Program) is authorized by <br />the Older Americans Act (Title V) through NC Division of Aging & Adult <br />Services and Area Agency on Aging and administered by the Department of <br />Labor. The program is available to states to assist eligible individuals age 55 <br />and older to gain competitive job skills through temporary subsidized <br />employment and training. A budget amendment is included for $19,793 <br />which is the amount of grant funding received above the anticipated and <br />budgeted amount. Total Title V funding for the year is $189,389. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the contract between Cabarrus County and Centralina <br />Council of Governments; and authorize the County Manager to execute the <br />contract on behalf of Cabarrus County, subject to review or revisions by the <br />County Attorney, and to adopt the budget amendment for $19,793. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />Michael L.
