CABARRUS COUNTY <br />r'~ BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 20, 2008 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />BOC -Approval of the Cabarrus County Economic Development Grant <br />Program <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners adopted the Cabarrus <br />County Economic Development Grant Program on December 15, 2003, <br />with an effective date of January 1, 2004. In 2006, the Board adopted <br />several modifications to the grant program to increase competitiveness <br />based on recommendations from the Economic Development Corporation <br />(EDC) and asked the EDC to incorporate the changes into the current <br />program guidelines. Recently, a new, more flexible version of the <br />Economic Development Grant Program was developed. This program <br />was presented and discussed at several Commissioner meetings, where <br />minor changes to the document were noted. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the Cabarrus County Economic Development Grant <br />Program as presented. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />John Day, County Manager <br />BUDGET AMENDMENT REQUIRED: <br />No <br />COUNTY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS/COMMENTS: <br />This item was approved by the Board fo~C_i~clusion on the Agenda as a <br />
