1 <br />CABARRUS COUNTY EMERGENCY OPERATIONS PLAN <br />ANNEX C <br />NOTIFICATION AND WARNING <br />I. PURPOSE <br />This annex describes the process for staffing, operating, and maintaining the <br />emergency warning system. It also provides instructions fox dissemination of warning <br />information to emergency response agencies and the general public throughout the <br />County. <br />II. SITUATION AND ASSUMPTIONS <br />A. Situation <br />1. The County Warning Point will normally initiate notif cation and warning for <br />emergency situations. <br />2. Broadcast media will be relied upon to assist in the dissemination of warning to <br />the general public. The Public Information Officer (PIO) will contact Time- Warner <br />~} Cable Company to provide this cable television link with information to use on'its <br />erriergency warning system. <br />3. Operational telephone and/or radio communications will be utilized to notify <br />public officials, Emergency Operations Center staff, emergency response personnel and <br />others as required. <br />4. Emergency service vehicles are available fox warning the general public. <br />5. Special medical needs groups or persons in group homes may require special <br />warning and notif cation. <br />B. Assumptions <br />1. County Government will require additional forms of warning to augment the <br />current systems in order to provide sufficient warning to the general public and special <br />medical needs populations. <br />2.
