These publications
all contain information on how to prepare for emergency/disaster situations and what to do during an event. If
these publications became unavailable from the provider, and we could not print them for Cabarrus County, then
only those fluent in the English language would have access to emergency preparedness and evacuation
documents.
We have not used the services of a translator in the past.
Bobby
Robert S. Last night the Board asked for comments from department directors regarding how such a
policy would impact the operations of their departments. Please read item number 4 carefulty - it states that all
programs, publications, documents, etc., will be in English only. The way I read it, no language other than English
will be spoken or written while conducting the county's business.
Please be brief and concise in your assessments, and include a list of any publications or documents used by
your departments that are in a language other than English. Please also indicate if you ever use the services of a
translator (staff member or contractor).
Forward this information to me by noon on Tuesday, January 16~'.
