emergency medical care, emergency ambulance services when medically necessary, <br />medical records management, administrative support services, and other services, all <br />as more specifically described herein. <br />1.3 Specialty Services. In addition to providing the general services described <br />above, SHP shall, at its own cost, provide to inmates at the Jail special medical <br />services including, but not limited to, radiology services and laboratory services to the <br />extent such are determined to be medically necessary by SHP. In the event non- <br />emergency specialty care is required and cannot be rendered at the Jail, SHP shall <br />make arrangements with the County for the transportation of the inmates in accordance <br />with Section 1.9 of this Agreement. <br />1.4 Emergency Services. SHP shall provide, at its own cost, emergency <br />medical care, as medically necessary, to inmates through arrangements to be made by <br />SHP. <br />1.5 (a) Limitations On Costs -Hospital Cost Pool. SHP shall, at its own <br />cost, arrange for inpatient medical services for any inmate who, in the opinion of the <br />Medical Director (hereinafter meaning a licensed SHP physician), requires such care. <br />SHP's liability for costs associated with hospital inpatient services for inmates will be <br />__Lim.ited___by_a_pool-_establishedan_the_amount__af $7.0f00.0_in._the-_.aggregate_.fnr_all_inmate_s___.___ <br />for each year of this contract. If the costs of all care as described in this paragraph <br />1.5(a)exceeds the amount of $70,000 in any year (defined as a 12 month contract <br />period beginning July 1St of each year), then SHP will either: i) pay for the additional <br />services and submit invoices supporting the payments to the County along with an SHP <br />invoice for 100% of the cost in excess of $70,000; or ii) refer all invoices representing <br />any excess costs above the limit to County for payment directly to the provider hospital. <br />For purposes of this paragraph 1.5(a), the pool amount will be prorated for any contract <br />period of less than 12 months. <br />The intent of this Section 1.5(a) is to define SHP's annualized limit for all <br />inpatient hospitalization costs. <br />1.5 (b) Limitations On Costs -Individual Catastrophic Limit. SHP shall, at <br />its own cost arrange for all non-inpatient hospital care and all other medical, mental <br />health, and dental care for inmates, delivered inside and outside the Jail. SHP's liability <br />for costs of care for a single inmate shall be limited to $5,000 per. inmate per .period of <br />incarceration (per commitment). If the cumulative identifiable cost, excluding hospital <br />inpatient care identified in paragraph 1.5(a), of all care of any single inmate for a single <br />period of commitment to the Jail should exceed $5,000 in any contract year (July 1St to <br />June 30tt'), then SHP will continue to pay for the additional services and will submit <br />invoices to the County along with an SHP invoice for 100% of the cost in excess of <br />$5,000 per inmate, per commitment, per contract year. <br />The intent of this Section 1.5(b) is to define SHP's annualized limit for any one <br />inmate's identifiable non-inpatient costs for medical, mental health, and dental care. <br /> <br />
