CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA ITEM REQUEST <br />Meeting Date 3/26/07 <br />Agenda Item # ~- <br />SUBJECT: <br />Proclamation Declaring April 11, 2007, as "Guardian ad Litem Day" <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The Guardian ad Litem program is a statewide agency under the Administrative Office of <br />the Courts whose focus is to recruit and train community volunteers to advocate in court for <br />abused and neglected children who are in the custody of the Department of Social <br />Services. Cabarrus County currently has 215 children in foster care. These children are <br />represented by 52 Volunteer Guardians ad Litem.
