CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA ITEM REQUEST <br />Meeting Date 3/26/07 Agenda Item # ' ~,3 <br />SUBJECT: <br />Utility Easement at JM Robinson High School <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />BFI and Philip Morris are working together on a project to supply methane gas for use in <br />Philip Morris' daily operations. The gas will be piped from the BFI Landfill to the Philip <br />Morris facility. This will require a 10' easement across school property which is owned by <br />Cabarrus County. In past actions where land rights were sold at a school property, the <br />revenues from those sales were budgeted for use at the affected school. A letter from <br />Cabarrus County schools is attached which discusses safety, property use and location of <br />the easement. The Board of Education has voted favorably on this request. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: (Suggested motion if the Board approves the agenda Item as presented) <br />Approve the sale of a 10' utility easement for purposes of a gas transmission line <br />authorizing the County Manager and County Attorney to complete the transaction, and <br />approve a budget amendment for $70,000 designating those revenues for Cabarrus <br />County Schools. <br />Attachments ^X Yes ^ No Expected Length of Presentation <br />Submitted By: Jonathan B.
