May 1, 2007 <br />To: Mr. John Day, Cabarrus County Manager <br />Mr. Mike Downs, Cabarrus County Deputy Manager <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />From: Mr. Steve Little, Director <br />Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department <br />Subject: Construction Contract with CM Black Construction Company, Inc. for <br />Multi-Purpose Building at Cox Mill School Park <br />On March 15, 2007, Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department received six <br />informal bids for construction of amulti-purpose building at the Cox Mill School Park <br />project. The following were the submitted bid amounts: <br />Company Bid Amount <br />1. CM Black Construction Company $236,348 <br />2. Graham Construction Company $290,950 <br />3. J.K. Hogan Company $339,250 <br />4. G.W. Liles Company $270,895 <br />5. Ike's Construction Company $250,189 <br />6. Kodiak Construction Company $298,336 <br />With the overall low bidder of CM Black Construction Company, Inc. of $236,348, and <br />preliminary construction budget of $175,000, Cabarrus County Parks. and Recreation <br />Department rejected all bids and ordered the project consultant to re-design the <br />proposed multi-purpose building for Cox Mill School Park project. <br />As stated by the attached letter, project consultant, David R. Harmon with Design Studio <br />22 recommends awarding the construction contract to CM Black Construction <br />Company, Inc. as the low bidder at $177,487.00 for the redesigned project . <br />~- ~3 <br />
