Box 707 Concord, NC 28026-0707 Dear Chairman Carruth; Please be advised that the terms of two members of the Cabarrus County Library Board of Trustees, Carol Gilbert (Concord) and Barbara Viehmann (MidlandBethel/southern Cabarrus) will expire on July 31, 2007. Under the terms of the Library Merger Agreement with the City of Concord, the City will fill the vacancy created by the departure of Mrs. Gilbert. In their regular May meeting, the Concord City Council appointed Mrs. Carol Schmidt, a resident of Concord, to a serve a three year term as a Library Tnrstee. Mrs. Viehmann has served two terms on the Board and does not seek reappointment. As the Trustee representing the southern Cabarrus area, Mrs. Viehmann has done an outstanding job and I applaud her support of the Library and her service to Cabarrus County Mrs. Mary R. Little, a resident of Midland, has requested that she be considered for appointment to the Board of Trustees. Her application for appointment is attached. She is a retired educator who is supported in her application by a member of the Midland Town Council, Kathy Kitts and also by Mrs. Viehmann. As the library board of trustees has always sought to have all geographic areas of the County represented, I do support Mrs. Little's application to serve as the Trustee representing southern Cabarrus County. Therefore, on behalf of the Library Board of Trustees, I respectfully request that the Board of Commissioners consider the appointment of Mary R. Little to serve a three year term as a Library Trustees. The term would commence on August 1, 2007 and conclude on July 31, 2010. I also request that this matter be considered at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Commissioners. Sincerely, I ^^` . Thomas W.
