Dr. Maria Morandi <br />Comments of Dr. Maria Morandi, March 4, 2007 <br />The current version of the Staff Paper represents a significant improvement over the first draft. <br />In general, the staff was responsive to the major concerns of the Panel, foremost among them the <br />inconsistency between the.. scientific evidence for health effects of ozone observed at levels <br />below the current primary, standard that are described in the Final Ozone AQCD and summarized <br />in the Final Ozone Staff Paper, and the recommendation for maintaining the current primary <br />standard. <br />I have some concern with the description of the upper bound of the recommended range for a <br />revised primary as a "...range of somewhat below 0.080 ppm .to 0.060 ppm..." in multiple areas <br />of Chapter 6. Since the Staff Paper risk scenarios include the 0.074, 0.070, and 0.064 as <br />representative levels of the recommended range it would strengthen the recommendation to <br />provide a value for the upper bound of the range (say 0.074) as it is done for the lower bound <br />(0.060 ppm). <br />~~_~~ <br />C-21 <br />
