I November 21, 2005 (Regular Meeting) @lFJ~[F1r Page 421 I UPON MOTION of Commissioner Freeman, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board reconvened the Board of Commissioners at 9:37 p.m. by Commissioner Privette regular meeting of the I County Attorney Selection Committee I Chairman Carpenter reported that the County Attorney Selection Committee met earlier this date and reviewed the nine applications that were received for the position of County Attorney. The Committee had narrowed the field to six applicants and suggested that the Board meet on Saturday, December 10, for interviews. I After discussion, the Board agreed to meet on Saturday, January 21, to interview County Attorney applicants. Board members were asked to submit questions to the County Manager by December 1 to be forwarded to each candidate for written responses prior to the interview date. Recognition of Rodger Lentz I Vice Chairman Carruth thanked Rodger Lentz, Planning and Zoning Manager, for the excellent service provided to Cabarrus County. Mr. Lentz will be leaving County employment for a position with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Department. I (L) CLOSED SESSION I (L-l) Closed Session to Consult with the County Attorney to Preserve the Attorney Client Privilege, to Discuss Pending or Threatened Litigation and to Discuss the Acquisition of Real Property off Highway 24/27 as Authorized by N.C. General Statues l43-3l8.ll(a) (3) (5) I UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Freeman and unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Closed Session to Consult with the County Attorney to preserve the attorney client privilege, to discuss pending or threatened litigation and to discuss the acquisition of real property off Highway 24/27 as authorized by N. C. General Statute 143- 318.11 (a) (3) (5). Further, the Board invited Mike Downs, Deputy County Manager, to join the Board in Closed Session. I UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Freeman and unanimously carried, the Board moved to come out of the Closed Session. I Property Acquisition I UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette and unanimously carried, the Board approved the contract for the purchase of a one-acre tract plus 30 foot right-of-way located on Highway 24/27 in Midland from Donald E. Misenheimer for a communications tower site at a cost of $50,000.00; and authorized the County Manager and County Attorney to execute the contact.
