Ritchie Hearne, P.E.; District Engineer Dear Sir: We are requesting the abandonment of 550 feet at the end of Macedonia Church Road, road number 1620, in Cabarrus County. We own the land at the end of this road and are in the process of building a house on the property. We are requesting that we turn this stretch of road into a Private Drive. This land has been in our family for generations and we have finally decided to build here. However, we have had numerous events happen there, even before we started building which were damaging to our property and safety. This is a dead end road used for excessive tum around traffic, romantic rendezvous parking, dumping of all sorts of trash, etc, property damage, and most recently theft of 200 2 x 4 x 14' pieces of construction lumber valued at $1,000. We have also had brick stolen from the construction site that the Concord Police are investigating believed to be used in other thefts of tires and rims in Concord. We own right of way to the center line of this road and Thelma 1. Collins owns right of way on the other half of the center line. Mrs. Collins has lived on the other side of the road of this property for many, many years and has witnessed such damage, etc. Mrs. Collins is in total agreement of the abandonment of this stretch of roadway and we are the only two land owners adjoining this section. We would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter so that we will be able to move forward with the installation of a gate to our property.
