<br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA ITEM REQUEST <br /> <br />Meeting Date 7/10/06 <br /> <br />Agenda Item # p- 15 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br />Motor Vehicle Receivable Write-off <br /> <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br /> <br />Per G.S. 150-373(4) the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners may relieve the Tax <br />Collector of the charge of taxes on motor vehicles that are one or more years past due <br />when it appears that the taxes are uncollectable. Historically the Board of Commissioners <br />have relieved the Tax Collector of the charge of these taxes when they become three (3) <br />years past due. The Tax Collector's Office has exhausted all means of collections on <br />vehicle taxes due from March 2002 through February 2003. The amount to be relieved for <br />those renewal months is $253,143.22 as of July 3, 2006. <br /> <br />REQUESTED ACTION: (Suggested motion If the Board approves the agenda item as presented) <br />Grant relief to the Tax Collector of the charge of collecting taxes on classified motor <br />vehicles for renewal months March 2002 through February 2003. <br /> <br />Attachments 0 Yes ~ No Expected Length of Presentation <br />Submitted By: J.
