Mrs. Whitley has been an enthusiastic and faithful member of the board.
As a Library Trustee, she lives in and represents Kannapolis and the area of nortbern Cabarrus County.
She also serves on the board of the Kannapolis Friends ofthe Kannapolis Library, a non-profit
community group that provides monetary and volunteer support to the Library. As the Trustee
representing the Mt. Pleasant/eastern Cabarrus County area, Mrs. Jones has done an outstanding job and
has served as the Chairperson of the Board. I appreciate Library her service to Cabarrus County. Rev.
John H. Bigelow, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, has submitted an Application for Appointment to the Board
of Library Trustees. Rev. Bigelow is currently the President of the Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library, a
non-profit community group that provides monetary and volunteer support to the Library. Kate Moore,
the manager ofthe Mt. Pleasant Library, regards Rev. Bigelow to be a strong library supporter and
believes that he would, as a Library Trustee, be an asset to the Library.

Both Mrs. Whitley and Rev. Bigelow are strong advocates of public library service in Cabarrus
County. I believe that both the Library and Cabarrus County would be well served by their presence on
the board. Therefore, on behalf of the Library Board of Trustees, I respectfully request that the Board of
Commissioners consider the reappointment of Karan Whitley and the appointment of Rev. John H.
Bigelow to serve three year terms as Library Trustees.
