<br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />~~ <br />CabifTusCo ~ <br />The Center of American MOI!!]!Y <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />CABARRUSCOUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary is the largest women's patriotic <br />service organization in the world with nearly one million members in over 10,000 <br />communities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Auxiliary members are a unique group of women, joined in the <br />purpose of supporting the American Legion and programs related to veterans, active <br />military personnel and young people with a focus on community service; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Janice Hill MacLeod is President of Harrisburg's American <br />Legion Auxiliary Unit 523 which was formed in January 2005; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Janice MacLeod was named the 2005-2006 Unit President of the <br />Year by the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of North Carolina, during its <br />annual Convention held June 15-17, 2006, in Raleigh; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mrs. MacLeod was chosen for this prestigious honor from a <br />group of eight nominees among the 182 Auxiliary Units in North Carolina; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in nominating Mrs. MacLeod for this award, members of her Unit <br />described her as "being passionate and tireless in her work for the Auxiliary, leading <br />the organization in a wide range of community projects." <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners hereby <br />recognizes Janice Hill MacLeod on being selected as the 2005-2006 Unit President of <br />the Year by the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of North Carolina, and <br />expresses sincere appreciation to Mrs. MacLeod for her dedicated service on behalf of <br />our veterans, young people and the community. <br /> <br />This the 10th day ofJuly 2006. <br /> <br />Robert W.
