After reviewing
several reorganizations and proposals, the Parks and Recreation Commission approved
a reorganization that includes the following major points:

. Cabarrus County Seven Planning Areas will replace townships as the geographic
model for appointee eligibility.
. Two permanent at-large seats will be added to aid in proportional representation in
the Commission. Membership to the Commission will increase from nine (9) to
eleven (11).
. All current members of the commission will be able to continue their terms of service
and will have no change in their eligibility for reappointment.
. As of February 1, 2007, the Parks and Recreation Commission will have 11
members.
. The new appointees from the Northwest, Harrisburg, and Midland areas will have
terms ending in 2007, 2008, and 2009 - respectively - to maintain the current
schedule of staggering terms.
. Two at-large representatives.
. One temporary at-large representative. The position will expire 1/31/2007.
. One representative from Cabarrus County Schools.
.
