Little, Director <br />Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department <br /> <br />Subject: <br /> <br />Project Bid Award for North Cabarrus Park - Phase III. <br /> <br />On Thursday, August 31, 2006, three bids were received and opened for the <br />project bid award for North Cabarrus Park - Phase III. The overall low bidder is Ike's <br />Construction, Inc. at $572,875.93. <br /> <br />The following is a summary of the bid tabulation: <br /> <br />Contractor 10% Continaencv Total <br />1. Ike's Construction, Inc. 52,079.63 572,875.93 <br />2. TK Browne Construction 86,319.03 949,509.36 <br />3. G.W. Liles Construction Company 73,574.65 809,321.13 <br /> <br />The approved North Cabarrus Phase III budget is $403,818, which includes <br />$23,021 for project contingency. With the overall low bidder of Ike's Construction, Inc. <br />at $572,875.93, the difference of approved funds is a shortage of project funds in the <br />amount of $169,057.93. By the method of value engineering, the project bid was <br />reduced to within the approved funds of $403,818. The following items were <br />recommended: <br />. reduce the amount of dredging in the pond <br />. leave the dredging pond soil on site <br />. remove rock allowance for rock excavation <br />. remove the construction staking by the contractor (in engineering contract) <br />. change concrete sidewalk from 8' to 6' wide <br />. reduce the boardwalk height over water (pond), <br />. reduce parking by 30 spaces <br />. reduce contingency <br /> <br />;--/ 0 <br />
