<br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA ITEM REQUEST <br /> <br />Meeting Date 10/30/06 <br /> <br />Agenda Item # <br /> <br />F- \ ':5 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br />Funding for School Property Purchase Option and Architect Fees for a New High School <br /> <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br /> <br />Due to greater than expected growth in the student population, the Cabarrus school board <br />requests funding for architect fees and land for a new high school in the Northwest area of <br />the county. Debt payments for this school in the 5-Year Financial Plan were anticipated <br />to begin in FY2oo9. If the construction of this school is advanced, then the debt can be <br />structured in such a way as to minimize the budgetary impact until FY 2009, as planned. <br />The appropriate budget revision is attached for approval. <br /> <br />REQUESTED ACTION: (Suggested motion if the Board approves the agenda item as pt'fISfInted) <br />Approve the funding request for $100,000 for land purchase option contract and $500,000 <br />for architectural fees for a new high school in the Northwest area of the County and adopt <br />related budget amendment and project ordinance. <br /> <br />Attachments ~ Yes 0 No Expected Length of Presentation <br /> <br />Submitted By: Pamela S.
