Little, Director <br />Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department <br /> <br />Subject: <br /> <br />Nominations of Newly Approved Seats for the Cabarrus County Parks and <br />Recreation Commission <br /> <br />On August 21, 2006, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners approved <br />reorganization plan for the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Commission. With <br />this approved plan, new appointments for Harrisburg and Midland (land use areas) were <br />added to the Parks and Recreation Commission. The new appointees from Midland <br />and Harrisburg areas will have terms ending in 2007 and 2009 respectively to maintain <br />the current schedule of staggering terms. <br /> <br />During the past two months, the Parks and Recreation Commission requested <br />nominations from the general public. The following seven (7) individuals submitted their <br />names: <br /> <br />Harrisburg - Steve Sciascia <br />Midland - Margaret Houston <br />Alan Hastings <br />Michael Tallent <br /> <br />Others submitted from other districts <br /> <br />Kannapolis - George Hall <br />Concord - Jon Keisler <br />Despinia Kaddouri <br /> <br />With the recommendations of the Commission's Nominating Committee, on October 19, <br />2006, the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Commission recommended the <br />following two individuals for the newly created seats: <br /> <br />1. Margaret Houston <br />2. Steve Sciascia <br /> <br />- Midland area seat <br />- Harrisburg area seat <br /> <br />With the recent appointment of Mr. Larry Ensley to the Cabarrus County Planning and <br />Zoning Commission and his nomination for the Northwest seat on the Cabarrus County <br />Parks and Recreation Commission, the Parks and Recreation Commission will review <br />applications and prepare another recommendation for the Northwest seat to the Parks <br />and Recreation Commission. <br /> <br />\.\- ~ <br />
