Staff Report to the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners
Petition 2005-02.(Street Naming)
Monday, January 24th, 2005

Request for an unnamed easement located off of the 1050 block of Cox Mill Road. The
petitioner, Cabarrus County Commerce Department, has requested that this easement be
officially named to Benjamin Walker Lane.

The easement has been calculated at approximately 2330 feet. (This number was
calculated by using the measurement tool in the ArcMap Geographic Information
System.) The petition has been signed by the property owners listed below. Their street
frontage is listed as well.

Wendy Phoenix
TOTAL

196'
196'

Percentage of Property Owners Signed

4%

The petition was sent to the followingproperty owners. No signed petitions were
received from any of these property owners. However, Mrs. McKenzie did contact the
Commerce Department to discuss the naming of the easement. She is in favor of the
official naming of the easement, although she did not return her signed petition, she
supported the petition verbally during phone conversations and helped to come up with
the proposed name for the easement.

. Although the 51 % requirement has not been met in this case, there
was recently another subdivision of property off of this easement. The Commerce
Department was unable to issue the new property owner an address because all the
numbers in that block range were already being used. This easrment will have to be
readdressed to allow the new additional property owner to/have an address. This split also
brought the number of lots accessed off of this easement from 6 to 7 with the potential for
more splits. The number of lots accessing this easement in addition to E-911 response
concerns has prompted the Commerce Department to. approach the property owners about
officially naming the easement.

G-I
