<br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />,~ <br />~~!~ql!!!Y <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />CABARRUSCOUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, county government is one of the oldest forms of local government in the <br />United States; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, counties have a long history of providing critical services to meet the needs <br />of the public, including such programs as child and elder care, social services, public safety, <br />planning, parks and recreation and transportation; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, counties serve as major partners in the public education system, <br />contributing funds to elementary and secondary schools as well as community colleges; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, counties provide many services that make America's communities stronger, <br />safer places to live and raise families; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, county officials and employees use their role as local leaders to encourage <br />economic development and make communities more livable, and therefore improve the lives of <br />citizens; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, county governments are the citizens' local government voice, providing <br />solutions that bring communities together. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, in recognition of the leadership, innovation and valuable service <br />provided by our nation's counties, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners hereby <br />proclaims April 10-16, 2005 as <br /> <br />National County Government Week in Cabarrus County <br /> <br />and urges all citizens to be more involved in and aware of issues affecting County government. <br /> <br />This the 21" day of March 2005. <br /> <br />Carolyn Carpenter, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />c. ~ Lt-- <br />
