<br />CABARRUSCOUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />NORTH CAROUNA <br /> <br />WHEREAS, citizen volunteers are one of the most valuable resources of <br />counties throughout the United States, with volunteers of all ages contributing greatly to <br />their focal communities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Prudential Spirit of Cornmunity Awards is a nationwide <br />program conducted by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association <br />of Secondary School Principals to honor young people for outstanding acts of <br />volunteerism; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, more than 20,000 high school and middle level students were <br />considered for recognition in this year's awards program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sarah Trexler, a sixth grade student at Harris Road MiddleSchool, <br />has been named as North Carolina's top middle school youth volunteer for 2005, in the <br />lOth annual Prudential Spirit of Cornmunity Awards; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sarah earned this prestigious honor by making and selling <br />pocketbooks and earrings and raising funds to buy games and supplies for the patient <br />treatment room at the Blume Presbyterian Pediatric Cancer Clinic; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sarah exemplifies the value of volunteer cornmunity service and is <br />a role model to other youth as well as the adults in our county. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Cornmissioners hereby <br />cornmends Sarah Trexler on being named North Carolina's middle school youth <br />volunteer for 2005 by The Prudential Spirit of Cornmunity Awards, and expresses <br />sincere appreciation for her outstanding volunteer contribution to others and our county. <br /> <br />This the 2151 day of March, 2005. <br /> <br />Carolyn B.
