<br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA ITEM REQUEST <br /> <br />Agenda Item # r- 7 <br /> <br />Meeting Date 3/21/05 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br />COPS 2004 Technology Grant of $247,369 <br /> <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br /> <br />The Sheriff's Office was awarded a grant from the US Dept. of Justice in the amount of <br />$246,369. These funds will be used as follows: $98,000 for a patrol unit driving simulator <br />which will reinforce good driving habits and provide officers the ability to practice without <br />the danger of harming themselves, citizens, or patrol vehicles. $66,416 for a reverse 911 <br />notification system which will be used to notify large groups of citizens in times of crisis.
