<br />Cabarrus County Tourism Authority <br />Boar~ of Directors Meeting <br /> <br />February 23, 2005 Minutes <br />LOCATION: Cabarrus County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Concord, NC <br /> <br />The February 23, 2005 Board of Directors meeting was called to order at 8:04 am by Chairperson Roger <br />Haas. <br />IN ATTENDANCE WERE: <br />Board Members: Eddie Littlefield <br />John Cox <br />Doug Stafford <br />Carolyn Carpenter <br /> <br />Diane Honeycutt <br />Roger Haas <br />Aubie Cook <br /> <br />Staff: Ann Sternal <br />Libba Barrineau <br />Scott Aldrich <br />Linda Collins <br />Judy Root <br /> <br />Guests: <br /> <br />Mike Downs, Cabarrus Co. Deputy Mgr. <br />Michael Roessler, Independent Tribune <br />Kathy Turner, Sleep Inn <br /> <br />Joe Ladaga, Sleep Inn <br />Adam Bell, Charlotte Observer <br />Linda Seifert, Mainstay Suites <br /> <br />Roger Haas and Ann Sternal welcomed the guests. <br /> <br />Minutes <br />Motion- a motion was made by Eddie Littlefield with a second by John Cox to approve the minutes from the <br />January 21, 2005 board meeting as submitted. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Financials <br />Motion- Roger Haas and Ann Sternal presented the financials for the month of January, 2005. A motion was <br />made by John Cox with a second by Carolyn Carpenter to accept the financials as submitted. Motion carried. <br /> <br />ManaQement Report <br />. Libba Barrineau attended the American Bus Association trade show held in Chicago. She reported <br />three group tours have been booked from that show. <br /> <br />. The CVB is working with the Mid Atlantic Farm Equipment Show scheduled to take place at the <br />Cabarrus Arena and Events Center. This event is expected to attract 30,000 to 40,000 people. <br /> <br />. Scott Aldrich reported bids have been placed for the NCAA Div. II National Women's Basketball <br />Championship Event, a USA Archery national event and a USA Sports Productions cheer and dance <br />event, all to be held at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center. <br /> <br />. Scott Aldrich explained the CVB will be hosting a luncheon on March 29 with featured guest Don <br />.Schumaker, Executive Director of the National Association of Sports Commissions. The purpose of <br />this meeting is to discuss the feasibility of creating a Cabarrus County Sports Council to be made up of <br />individuals in the community interested in securing sporting events to the county. An invitation was <br />extended to all board members. <br /> <br />. Ann Sternal attended the Snowbird Extravaganza in Lakeland, Florida in January. She distributed <br />several thousand visitor guides to the over 25,000 people that attended this consumer show. <br /> <br />7=-JO <br />
