Cabarrus County Tourism Authority Board of Directors Meeting June 1, 2005 Minutes LOCATION: Cabarrus County CVB, Kannapolis, NC The June 1, 2005 Board of Directors meeting was called to order at 8: 1 0 am by Chairperson Roger Haas. IN ATTENDANCE WERE: Board Members: Carolyn Carpenter John Cox Doug Stafford Aubie Cook Roger Haas Staff: Ann Sternal Libba Barrineau Scott Aldrich Linda Collins Judy Root Guests: Michael Roessler, Independent Tribune Erin Tucker, Jillians Frank Lapsley, Cabarrus Arena and Events Center, General Manager Roger Haas and Ann Sternal welcomed the guests. A motion was made by Doug Stafford with a second by John Cox to amend the agenda to include a recommendation for consideration to appoint a new board member. Motion carried. Minutes A motion was made by John Cox with a second by Aubie Cook to approve the minutes from the April 27, 2005 board meeting as submitted. Motion carried. Financials Roger Haas and Ann Sternal presented the financials for the month of April, 2005. A motion was made by John Cox with a second by Aubie Cook to accept the financials as submitted. Motion carried. Motion carried. Manaaement Report Libba Barrineau played the commercial recorded for Pit Pass Cabarrus that was aired on ESPN during the dirt track event and will be aired again on June 12. She also provided the board with an update on the proposed convention center to be built on Speedway Blvd. as well as bids submitted for various groups she is trying to bring to Cabarrus County. , Scott Aldrich updated the board on bids sent out for sporting events he is trying to secure for Cabarrus County, in particular a bid for NCAA Women's golf tournament to be held at Rocky River Golf Club. Ann Sternal mentioned the tourism week event held at NASCAR Speed park was a success and well attended. She noted the CVB staff will be participating on discussion panels at NCACVB in Asheville on June 2 and 3'd. Other Business Roger Haas presented a proposal for an incentive program for all employees at the Cabarrus County: Convention and Visitors Bureau (see attachment.) After discussion, a motion to accept the proposal :as : presented was made by Doug Stafford with a second by John Cox. Motion carried. H -I
