<br />b. Meadows, woodlands, wetlands, wildlife corridors, game preserves, or <br />similar conservation-oriented areas; <br /> <br />c. Pedestrian or multipurpose trails; <br /> <br />d. Passive recreation areas, including pocket parks; <br /> <br />e. Active recreation areas, such as ballfields and playgrounds, provided that <br />impervious area is limited to no more than 10 percent of the total open space <br />(active recreation areas in excess of this impervious area limit shall be located <br />outside of the protected open space); <br /> <br />f. Golf courses in the suburban tier (excluding clubhouse areas and maintenance <br />facilities), provided the area does not exceed 50 percent of the required open <br />space, and further provided that impervious area is limited to no more than <br />10 percent of the total open space; <br /> <br />g. Above-ground utility rights-of-way, provided the area does not exceed 50 <br />percent of the required open space; <br /> <br />h. Water bodies, such as lakes and ponds, and floodways provided the total <br />surface area does not exceed 50 percent of the required open space; <br /> <br />i. Agriculture, horticulture, silviculture or pasture uses as provided for in. a <br />conservation plan approved by the Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation <br />District; <br /> <br />j. Landscaped stormwater management facilities; <br /> <br />k. Easements for drainage, access, and underground utility lines; and <br /> <br />1. Other conservation-oriented uses compatible with the purposes of these <br />regulations. <br /> <br />6. Prohibited uses of open space. <br />Open space shall not include the following: <br /> <br />a. Golf courses and above-ground utility rights-of-way in the Rural Tier. <br /> <br />b. Community or individual wastewater disposal systems in the Rural Tier; <br /> <br />c. Streets (except for street crossings as expressly provided above) and parking <br />areas; <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />d. Agricultural and forestry activities not conducted according to a conservation <br />plan approved by the Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District or a <br />forest management plan approved by the NC Division of Forestry; and <br /> <br />e. Other activities as determined by the applicant and recorded on the legal <br />instrument providing for permanent protection. <br /> <br />Ownership and management of open space. <br /> <br />a. Ownership of open space. <br />No residential lots shall be allowed to extend into the re~ed open space. <br />Openspace shall be accepted and owned by one of the following entities: <br /> <br />i. Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District.
