<br />: <br /> <br />, <br />, <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />~ <br />. ~e~g~rr~r~~M~Mmy <br /> <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />CABARRUSCOUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />WHEREAS Logan School and Shankletown School Were Cabarrus County's first <br />public schools for African-American students with their beginnings dating back to the <br />late 1800s when single-room schools sprinkled the county, and; <br /> <br />.. WHEREAS Logan School officially founded in 1891, and Shankletown School <br />founded in 1913, and; <br /> <br />. WHEREAS Shankletown School.served as a feeder school to the high school division <br />at Logan School, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS Thousands of children received quality educations from Logan and <br />. Shankletown Schools going on to become productive citizens of our community and our <br />nation, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS Former students of Logan and Shankletown Scho.9ls are holding a Grand <br />Reunion July 1-3 with a ribbon cutting ceremony, a parade, a banquet, a Gospel Fest and <br />much more, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS Approximately 400 alumni are expected for the Grand Reunion with <br />several hundred alumni coming from out of town; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />proclaim July 1, 2005 as: <br /> <br />"Historic Logan and Shankletown Grand Reunion Day" <br /> <br />in honor of the great contributions made to this community by alumni of Logan and <br />Shankletown Schools. <br /> <br /> <br />...'......--. <br /> <br />This the 20th day ofJune, 2005. <br /> <br />Carolyn B.
