<br />County of Cabarrus, North Carolina <br />Proclamation <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the County of Cabarrus recognizes and honors the 15th Anniversary of the <br />Americans with Disabilities Act and the 30th Anniversary of Individuals with Disabilities <br />Education Act on July 26,2005; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Twenty Partners, representing various local agencies, governments and <br />organizations, have come together to celebrate the Americans with Disabilities Act; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the County of Cabarrus celebrates and honors the achievements of people <br />with disabilities who live in our community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the County of Cabarrus supports the CK Rider System (by providing <br />ParaTransit services) which is making great strides towards a fully accessible bus system <br />in the near future; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, we honor the businesses in our community who comply with the <br />Americans with Disabilities Act by making their establishments accessible and usable to <br />all patrons with disabilities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the County of Cabarrus had the foresight to join a newly formed ADA Task <br />Force, which held its first meeting on December 6, 2000; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Task Force has developed and evolved into the Cabarrus Accessibility <br />Action Committee (CAAC) which the County ofCabarrus has continued to support; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the CAAC's has remained committed to enhancing the quality of life for <br />people with disabilities in the Cabarrus County Area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, we celebrate those positive changes in our community so people with <br />disabilities can be free from negative attitude and architectural carriers. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I Carolyn Carpenter, Chairperson of the Cabarrus County <br />Commissioners, do hereby proclaim July 26, 2005 as . <br /> <br />"SPIRIT OF THE ADA CELEBRATION DAY" <br /> <br />in the County of Cabarrus, and encourage all citizens of Cabarrus County to recognize <br />that the Americans with Disabilities Act has, and will continue to, improve the quality of <br />life for people with and without disabilities. <br /> <br />WITNESS MY HAND and the official Seal of the County of Cabarrus <br /> <br />Carolyn Carpenter, Chairperson <br /> <br />C-d-.- <br />
