<br /> <br />I-I <br /> <br />Status Report to the County Commissioners of <br />Cabarrus, Davidson, Rowan, Stanly, and Union Counties <br /> <br />Major Accomplishments <br /> <br />. Submission and approval of the Piedmont Cardinal Health Plan to the Centers for Medicare and <br />Medicaid <br />o The Piedmont Cardinal Health Plan is the name for the Medicaid Waivers that will allow <br />PBH to manage all Medicaid resources for our five counties. <br />o The development of the waivers is a result of a highly collaborative effort between <br />Piedmont and the Department of Health and Human Services. <br />o The waivers will capitate the amount of Medicaid funding for behavioral health that will be <br />available for the five counties, thus making costs for the state and counties more <br />manageable and predictable. <br /> <br />. Opened a Call Center on July 1, 2004. This center takes calls 7 days per week, 24 hours per day. <br />The center will respond to information requests, ensure that people needing services are linked <br />to providers, and respond to crisis calls. <br /> <br />. Developed a major housing initiative, starting with a Housing Summit in November, and <br />expanded the Davidson Continuum of Care to cover all five counties. The Continuum of Care Is <br />currently responding to federal initiatives that will provide housing funds for our local <br />communities. <br /> <br />. Collaborative planning with our six community hospitals, resulting In our combined efforts to <br />more effectively manage Involuntary commitments, and to help plan a regional Crisis Center. <br /> <br />. We have begun to meet with law enforcement agencies across our five counties in order to <br />better understand the needs of law enforcement with regard to management of people with <br />mental illness and substance abuse. <br /> <br />. Developed county level Advisory Committees to provide a forum for community partners to <br />provide feedback to PBH about local needs, priorities and concerns, and for PBH to answer <br />questions and explain how reform Is being Implemented in the Piedmont Counties. <br /> <br />. Implementation of the Medicaid Waivers on April 1, 2005. <br />o Involved developing a network of providers that are qualified to implement the waiver <br />services. <br />o Working with Medicaid recipients to provide Information that they need to access services. <br />o Approximately 60,000 Medicaid recipients are enrolled in the Piedmont Cardinal Health <br />Plan for the month of April. <br /> <br />G.~ <br />Creating solutions, One person at a time <br />
