<br />Page: 1 <br />BID No. 000000 <br /> <br />BIDDER: <br /> <br />Cabarrus County Public Safety Towers Construction Proiect <br /> <br />SCODe of Work - Cabarrus County would like to install two (2) communications towers per the attached specifications as <br />follows In this bid request. All work shall comply with applicable North Carolina Building Codes and EIA codes. The tower <br />and all appurtenances shall be installed and affixed with the highest of workmanship. Contractor will advise Cabarrus <br />County a minimum of one (1) week in advance of the time the work will be performed. <br /> <br />Completion Deadline: Work mUst be comDleted bv November 18'" 2005. <br /> <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />This project shall consist of the fumishing and installation of two (2) communications towers per the specifications that <br />follow in this document. <br /> <br />COORDINATION OF THE WORK <br />When the work is to begin, the Contractor shall notify the Contracting officer of the date proposed to begin at least seven <br />(7) working days In advance. Failure to give notice may result in a delay of the starting date. Failure to give the advanced <br />notice may result in the Contractors crew being on site and unable to perform and work. <br /> <br />The contractor shall notify the contracting officer at least one day in advance of the foundations being poured so that the <br />contracting officer can inspect the forms and re-bar prior to the pour. <br /> <br />Upon completion of all work, including clean up, the Contractor will notify the Contracting Officer that the project is ready <br />for final inspection. <br /> <br />It is expected that the contractor will expedite completion of the project, taking full advantage of the weather and other <br />favorable working conditions <br /> <br />CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS <br />The Contractor must have all plans and designs approved by a North Carolina Registered Professional Engineer. All the <br />plans and designs must be stamped and signed at the time of submitting a bid. This is to assure the conformance and <br />design adequacy. If the vendor does not have a NC Registered Professional Engineer on staff then the vendor submitting <br />to bid proposal must get the plans approved by Tower Engineering Professionals, 3703 Junction Blvd., Raleigh, NC <br />27603-5263, and Phone 919-002-6351. The cost of that service must be included in the bid price for the project. <br /> <br />The Contractor or their subcontractor installing the tower must be licensed to Perform Contracting work in North Carolina. <br /> <br />The Contractor installing the tower must comply with the North Carolina Department of Labor Tower Climbing rules that <br />were adopted in February 2005. <br /> <br />It is not anticipated that any local building permits are required. In the event a permit is required the vendor will be <br />responsible for obtaining the permit and any cost associated with the permit. <br /> <br />Contractor shall provide a Performance Bond for 100% of the Contract Price. The documents showing proof of this <br />performance bond must be attached with the bid package. <br /> <br />CONSTRUCTION & MATERIALS <br />The tower shall be constructed of hot-dipped galvanized steel with either angular or round legs and cross-braces. The <br />tower may be either solid weld or knockdown construction. All components of the tower including but not limited to bolts, <br />nuts, mounting brackets. torque arms, etc shall be hot-dipped galvanized. The tower shall conform at a minimum to the <br />North Carolina Building Code Chart 1606, Basic Wind Speed. A higher wind specification may be listed in the following <br />specifications. <br /> <br />Tower shall not have step bolts. The tower must have a climbing ladder that is attached to the tower or incorporated into <br />the tower face. There must be a safety rail or safety cable at the ladder. <br /> <br />The Contractor would need to install silt basins or walls to prevent rain from washing silt into the water shed. If this is not <br />required then the contractor must verify this with the contracting officer before construction begins. <br /> <br />9-~ <br />
