<br /> <br />Resolution No. 2005-_ <br /> <br />CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, citizens of the Odell Community are seeking to incorporate the Odell area <br />to include those individuals residing within the boundaries as outlined on the attached map; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under current North Carolina law, a town may be incorporated only by act <br />of the North Carolina General Assembly subsequent to the review and recommendation by the <br />Joint Legislative Commission on Municipal Incorporations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute 120-163 outlines the procedures that a <br />community must follow in its efforts to incorporate, including a petition signed by 15 percent of <br />the registered voters of the area proposed to be incorporated and verified by the Cabarrus County <br />Board of Elections, and other information such as a proposed name for the city, proposed charter <br />and assessed valuation; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of the Odell community are aware of the process for <br />incorporation and the Odell Incorporation Committee has advised that it filed a petition for <br />incorporation on August 9, 2005. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners supports the rights of the citizens of the Odell community to pursue the <br />incorporation of Odell through the process set forth by North Carolina General Statutes. <br /> <br />Adopted this the _ day of September 200? <br /> <br />Carolyn B.
