The membership
voted unanimously by a<lclamation to request your support of the ordinance.
Our membership. wishes to express our gratitude to the elected officials and the
staff of Cabarrus Coutl,ty government. We are particularly grateful to the Cabarrus
County office of the Nq Cooperative Extension Service. Their support and hard work is
vital to the success of!many of our programs. The Agribusiness and Environmental
School Days program 1S one that comes to mind. We also appreciate the planning
department staff for s$king out our input in developing area plans as well as the
Designing Cabarrus pn)cess. Through the various boards and .commissions that our
members serve including Planning and Zoning, Soil and Water Conservation Board,
Watershed Improvement Commission, and Extension Advisory Council we see the hard
work that is being done Imd must continue to be done if this county is going to be able to
offer the quality oflife ttmt we all desire.
The Cabarrus ~ounty Cattlemans Association believes that a sustainable
agriculture sector is a critcial component of the quality of life that we now enjoy. The loss
of the economic and [culture impact of agriculture on this community would be
devastating. While liste~g to public comment during the Envision Cabarrus process, I
noticed a recurring the~e-"We don't want to be like Charlotte." It's working farms that
make the difference.
To give the agriculture sector every opportunity to overcome its challenges, we
ask that you vote to ad~pt the Voluntary Agriculture District ordinance into the law of
Cabarrus County.
