O. Box 707
Concord, NC 28026-0707

Re: Harris Road

Dear John:

The Department of Tra.nsportation would like to purchase a sliver of property on the
Harris Road Middle School site for the construction project for a new bridge on Harris
Road. The project wiUbegin in April 2006 and is projected to be completed in August
2006. The DOT needs 1\ permanent easement and a construction easement. The value of
the property that the DOT is requesting from Cabarrus County Schools is $1,500. Since
this property was purchased with COPs funding, the right-of-way must be approved by
the Commissioners. Thb $1,500 would also typically go to the Commissioners.

The Cabarrus County aoard of Education grants the money from right-of-ways to the
school that is involved with the right-of-way. We, likewise, are requesting that the
County Commissioners, approve the same procedure. Due to the relocation of the ball
fields, Harris Road Middle School has many uses for the $1,500.

Q-s

In summary, the Cabanfus County Board of Education requests that the Commissioners
grant the right-of-way tp the Department of Transportation and further requests that the
$1,500 be awarded to Harris Road Middle School.

s~~

Mrs. Elizabeth "Liz" F. poole
Board Chair

Pc: Cabarrus County Board of Education
Mr. GeneJordan
