<br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA ITEM REQUEST <br /> <br />Agenda Item # r- -.:6 <br /> <br />Meeting Date 11/21/05 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br />"Food for Fines" <br /> <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />In 2003 and 2004, the Cabarrus County Public Library conducted "Food for Fines," a <br />program in which the Library branches accepted food items in payment for fines for <br />overdue library materials. During the two years, the library system collected 4000 food <br />items which were contributed to local charitable agencies for distribution to those in need. <br />The library proposes to offer this program in 2005, during the two week period from Nov. <br />28 through Dec. 10, 2005.
