<br />PROPOSED ORDINANCE <br /> <br />CABARRUSCOUNTY <br />VOL,UNTARY AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT ORDINANCE (Draft 10-25-2005) <br /> <br />ARTICLE I <br />TITLE <br /> <br />An ordinance of the Board of County Commissioners of CABARRUS COUNTY, NORTII CAROLINA, <br />entitled, "VOLUNTARY AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT ORDINANCE." and "The Enhanced <br />V oluntarv At!ricultural District Ordinance" <br /> <br />ARTICLE II <br />AUTHORITY <br /> <br />The articles and sections of this ordinance ate adopted pursuant to authority conferred by the N.C.G.S. Sections <br />106-735 through 106-744 and Chapter 153A. In conjunction with Ratified House Bill 607, <br /> <br />ARTICLE ill <br />PURPOSE <br /> <br />The purpose of this ordinance is to promote agricultural values and the general welfare of the county and more <br />specifically, increase identity and pride in the agricultural community and its way of life; encourage the <br />economic and fmaneial health of agriculture; and increase protection from non-farm development and other <br />negative impacts on properly managed fanus. <br /> <br />.The Enhanced V oluntarv Al!ricultural District Ordinance creates a district that will orovide ereater benefits to <br />farmers than the current oro!!I'anl. Particioating fauns will be allowed to receive uo to 25% of their !!I'OSS sales <br />from certain tvoes of non-farm oroducts and still qualify for al!riculturaI zoriine exemotions and be elicibile for <br />a hieher oercentaee of cost-share orol!I'lUl1 fundine and have orioritv for other state !!I'ant OrolITlllllS. <br /> <br />ARTICLE IV <br />DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />The following are defmed for purposes of this ordinance: <br /> <br />Advisory Board: Cabarrus County Agricultural Advisory Board. <br /> <br />Chairoerson: <br /> <br />Chairperson of the Cabarrus County Agricultural Advisory Board. <br /> <br />District: <br /> <br />Voluntary Agricultural District as established by this ordinance. <br /> <br />Board of <br />Commissioners: Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners. <br /> <br />ARTICLE V <br />AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY BOARD <br /> <br />A. Creation <br /> <br />The Board of Commissioners shall establish an Agricultural Advisory Board to implement the provisions of <br />this program. <br /> <br />B.
