<br />ARTICLE 16 - ARCHITECT'S STATUS <br /> <br />FFF. The Architect shall provide liaison and necessary inspection ofthe Work to ensure <br />compliance with plans and specifications. It is the agent of the Owner only for the purpose of <br />constructing this Work and to the extent stipulated in the Contract Documents. It has authority to <br />stop Work or to order Work removed, or to order corrections of faulty Work where such action may <br />be necessary to assure successful completion of the Work. <br /> <br />GGG. The Architect is the impartial interpreter of the Contract Documents, and, as such, it <br />shall exercise his powers under the contract to enforce faithful performance by both the Owner and <br />the CM, taking sides with neither. <br /> <br />HHH. Should the Architect cease to be employed on the Work for any reason whatsoever, <br />then the Owner shall employ a competent replacement who shall assume the status of the former <br />Architect. <br /> <br />Ill. The Architect will make periodic inspections ofthe project at intervals appropriate to <br />the stage of construction. It will inspect the progress, the quality and the quantity of the Work. <br /> <br />JJJ. The Architect and the Owner shall have access to the Work whenever it is in <br />preparation and progress during normal Working hours. The eM shall provide facilities for such <br />access so the Architect may perform his functions under the Contract Documents. <br /> <br />KKK. Based on the Architect's inspections and evaluations of the project, the Architect shall <br />issue interpretations, directives and decisions as may be necessary to assist the CM in the <br />administration of the project. His decisions relating to artistic effect and teclmical matters shall be <br />[mal, provided such decisions are within the limitations of the contract. The CM's decisions, <br />however, relating to means and methods, and administration of the contracts the CM holds are [mal. <br /> <br />ARTICLE 17 - CHANGES IN THE WORK <br /> <br />LLL. The Owner may have changes made in the Work covered by the contract. <br /> <br />MMM. Except in an emergency endangering life or property, NO CHANGE SHALL BE <br />MADE BY THE CM EXCEPT UPON RECEIPT OF APPROVED CHANGE ORDER OR <br />WRITTEN FIELD ORDER FROM THE Architect, COUNTERSIGNED BY THE Owner <br />AUTHORIZING SUCH CHANGE. NO CLAIM FOR ADJUSTMENTS OF THE <br />CONTRACT PRICE SHALL BE VALID UNLESS THIS PROCEDURE IS FOLLOWED, <br /> <br />NNN. A FIELD ORDER, TRANSMITTED BY FAX OR HAND DELIVERED, MAY <br />BE USED WHERE THE CHANGE INVOLVED IMPACTS THE CRITICAL PATH OF THE <br />Work.
