The following municipalities provide services that may be directly impacted during an <br />emergency and could be expanded to meet emergency requirements: <br /> <br />(1) City of Concord - Law Enforcement, Fire and Life Safety, Electric Utilities (Electra <br />cities Member), Public Works, Sanitation and Recycling (Contracted), Communications, Airport <br />Operations, Parks and Recreation, Public Housing, Community Development. <br /> <br />(2) City of Kannapolis - Law Enforcement, Fire and Life Safety, Public Works, <br />Sanitation and Recycling (Contracted), Communications, City Schools, Parks and Recreation, <br /> <br />(3) Town of Harrisburg - Law Enforcement, Fire and Life Safety, Water and Sewer, <br />Sanitation and Recycling (Contracted), Street Maintenance. <br /> <br />(4) Town of Mt. Pleasant - Law Enforcement, Fire and Life Safety, Water & Sewer, <br />Sanitation and Recycling (Contracted), Street Maintenance. <br /> <br />(5) Town of Midland - Fire and Life Safety; contracts for other services with Cabarrus <br /> <br />County. <br /> <br />2, The major traffic arteries are: <br /> <br />a, Interstate Highway 1-85: runs northeast-southwest through northwest section of the county, <br />b. US Highway 29: runs north-southwest through the central section ofthe county. <br /> <br />c. US Highway 601: runs north-south through the central section of the county. NC <br />Highway 200 branches off US 601 through the southeastern corner of the county. <br /> <br />d. NC Highway 73: runs east west through the central part of the county. <br /> <br />e. NC Highway 49: runs northeast-southwest through the eastern half of the county. <br /> <br />f. NC Highway 24/27: runs east-west through the southern side of the county. <br /> <br />g. NC Highway 52: runs northwest-southeast through the northeastern corner of the county. <br /> <br />h. NC Highway 3 (renamed from Hwy 136): Begins in Concord, runs north to Kannapolis, <br />then west-northwest out of the county towards Mooresville. <br /> <br />i. Westside Bypass (under construction): passes Kannapolis to the west; plans exist to extend <br />the road from US 29A north of Kannapolis south to NC Highway 49 through the western section of the <br />county. <br /> <br />3. Railroads operating in the county are: <br />a.
