Memo

To:

From:

Date:
Re:

Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners

Janet Slack, AICP

John Day, Jonathan Marshall, and Sheriff Brad Riley

02/09/04

Update for the Justice Facilities Project

The most recent developments regarding the Justice Facilities Project are as follows:

Staff organized a second meeting with interested parties within Downtown Concord regarding the
process of the project. This presentation took place January 20, 2004 at 10:00 am in the Multi-
purpose room of the Govemment Center. We had eight attendees, including Steve Osbome from
the City of Concord. The session was successful and the participants seemed to come away with a
better understanding of the process that the County must take in order to make a decision.
However, there were still questions of when the data would be available for review and how they
can participate in the process.

The consultants have concluded the document and, along w~th staff, will begin to organize the
presentation of this material in a public forum that will provide an opportunity for feedback from the
community. Once the input from the public forum is organized, this data, along with the consultant's
report, will be forwarded to the Board for consideration.

· Page 1
