Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes
November 20, 2003

Page 4

Mr. Lentz said the Board would make a recommendation as
amended. He said he has already written down about taking out
the location portion of the amendment.

Mr. Hill MOTIONED to accept the amended text on the amendment
to our existing agricultural zone. He said he would like to go
through the amended text to make sure everyone on the Board is
in agreement.

Mr. Hill said he believes that the amended text was one building
per parcel. The Board took out the intersection requirement. It
was a maximum 5,000 square foot building.

The Chair said everything else was agreed on.

Mr. Hill said that is his motion. Mr. Starnes seconded the motion.
The vote was unanimous.

2. Consider changing setbacks for barns/buildings housing livestock.
(Chapter 7 - ~[tem 2).
· Current standard in the LDR and MDR district is for buildings
housing livestock to be 150 feet from both the nearest building
with human inhabitants and the nearest property line.

Notice that the restriction is for the building only. A horse corral
could be located on the property line.

Mr. Hill asked Mr. Lentz if he was talking about property line or
dwelling. He said there is a major difference here.

Mr. Lentz said he is talking about residential use property.

Mr. Lentz said any building housing livestock shall be at least 150
feet from both the nearest building with human inhabitants and the
nearest property line.

Mr. Lentz said what is happening is this fellow or someone had
complained that someone backed up to this property that was 150
acres, there was no house in site, but the standards say you have
to be 150 feet from that line.
