(Bobby) Smith('~'~?
Emergency Management Director

John Day
County Manager

January 26, 2004

Homeland Security Grant

The North Carolina Department of Emergency Management has awarded Cabarrus
County additional funding under the 2002 Homeland Security Grant in the amount of
$5,134. This original 2002 Homeland Security Grant was presented to the Board on May
19, 2003 at which time the Board approved receipt of $52,261 which was designated for
purchasing equipment in preparation of a weapons of mass destruction or terrorist
incident. This additional funding is designated for purchasing training in preparation for
a weapons of mass destruction or terrorist incident. The planned training will be the
"Homeland Security 2004 Plan", live fire exercise. Attached you will find the required
budget amendment information in order for the county to receive the additional grant
funding and to begin to make purchases with final approval from the State. This grant
will work in the same manner as the original portion of the 2002 Terrorism Grant in that
the county will purchase the required training and request reimbursement from the State
when payment for these services has been made.

;-9

Office of Public Safety Services
PO Box 707 · Concord, NC 28026-0707 · wwwco cabarrus nc us
Building Inspection 704-920-2128 · Emergency Mgt/F~re Marshal 704-920-2143 ° Emergency Medical 704-920-2600
