CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> 1454TM TRANSPOR TA TION COMPANY <br /> WELCOME HOME DA Y <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrus County and communities across this great nation live in freedom <br />because of the contributions and sacrifices made by those who serve in the Armed Forces of the <br />United States in time of national peril; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 1454th Transportation Company of the North Carolina Army National <br />Guard is headquartered in Concord and received its activation orders in January 2003 in support <br />of Operation Iraqi Freedom; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the service men and women of the 1454th were deployed overseas in <br />February 2003 and served the past year in Iraq and Kuwait, logging more than 700,000 miles in <br />transportation missions and being called upon to make great sacrifices - the harsh living <br />conditions, the constant danger of enemy attack and the long separation from their families and <br />friends; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the soldiers of the 1454th Transportation Company successfully completed <br />their tour of duty in Iraq and have safely returned home to their families and loved ones and to <br />the community that missed them during this time of uncertainty and national awareness. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />proclaim February 28, 2004, as the <br /> <br />1454TM TRANSPOR TA TION COMPANY <br /> WELCOME HOME DAY <br /> <br />in Cabarms County in honor of the dedicated service men and women for their distinguished <br />service to our country, and call upon all citizens to join in extending heartfelt gratitude to the <br />soldiers and their families for their courage and extraordinary sacrifices during the past year on <br />behalf of our community, our State and our Nation. <br /> <br />This the 23rd day of February 2004. <br /> <br />Robert M.
