Cabarrus
llY County Schools

440 ! Old An-port Ro.~d
Concord, NC 28025
PO Box 388
Concord, NC 28026.0388

704.786.6191
704 786.6141/~v

February 5, 2004

Letter of Commendation for the 4-H Support Our Students Program

In my role as the Director of Middle Schools and a member of the 4-H Support
Our Students Program Advisory Board, I can attest first_;h~nd to the wonderful
contributions this pro.am is offering to a very special and deserving student
population. This after-school pro.am is appropriately named in that it offers
support in many ways to a group of students who grow and prosper from its
offerings.

Students are supervised in an academic and enriching environment as they
receive assistance in homework, test taking skUls, and a variety of enrichment
activities. I repeatedly hear success stories about student improvement in grades,
attendance, and oftentimes overall attitude about school. In addition, this
opportunity provides a service to parents who want and need supervision.for
students prior to their arrival from work.

The Cabarrus County School System has been fortunate to have the l~adership
of many educators in making this effort a successful one for our students and
parents. Our school system will continue to support the offering,..o.f this program so
that students, parents and our community continues to work together as partners
in providing this quality of education for our students.

Sincerely,

Cathy G. Jewett, Director
Middle Grades Curriculum and Instruction
