14. "Site 4B (Site 4) should house the LE (law enforcement) -jail section...further back fi:om street...4A
(Site 4)...too much impact on Union Street."
15. "Parking is a concern...public open space is needed downtown to give people a reason to be here."
16. "My number 1 (objective) is to keep the Red Pig Caf~ at its present location. Downtown Charlotte has
lost almost all of the pre-bank expansion structure(s)...I would hate to see Concord lose one of its most
popular icons."
17. "Please keep in Town! The infrastructure of downtown needs this activity." **Also, this person
emphatically noted "No" next to the Site 4 option.
18. "Keeping jail/courthouse downtown is a top coneern...Site 4 would work if shifted east along Corban
Avenue...the passageway could eounect to rear of existing jail...if courthouse expands the connection
would be maintained after construction ends. Do we need 600 inmate capacity?"
19. "This (Site 4) is by far the best idea."
20. "Any of above are viable in my opinion."
21. "Sites 4 (and 4B) offer the best option for growth and development."
22. "This (Site 4) is (the) best option for future growth that benefits the County, City, and residents."
23. "Site 4 seems to be the most (illegible) of all!"
24. "Area from Union and Corban proceeding east for Law Enforcement Center and connect relating
facilities." (Site 4)
25. "Still have use of existing jail until needed by court system. Then expand other side of Red Pig for
additional jail space." (Site 4)
26. "Best fit (Site 4) on edge of inner city...better appearance to community."
27. "We have fought so hard to keep the Courthouse downtown to help build business and now that we
have (it,) why would you attempt to desl~oy businesses that are striving financially when there are
other options that don't include taking profitable businesses out of the downtown area?"
28. "Work to retain businesses at' site...tunnel to courthouse...not skywalk"
29. "Cross waik/skywalk not a good thing for a historic downtown...optional underground would be
acceptable. Put deadbeat dads on a work program and get them out of the jail beds and allow that space
for additional prisoners. This would increase jail space and we, the County, would not have to (be)
building this new facility."
30. "Site 4 appears to be the most cohesive."
31. "Please put sprinkler and fire protection in building. Transit of prisoner(s) need(s) consideration."
32. "Combination (Sites 3 & 4) BECAUSE you need to use the parking lot or there are going to be a lot of
voters asking common sense questions like 'Why did a business and a historical building have to be
torn down and that parking lot is still there? A lot that doesn't utilize space for enough cars!"
33. "Great location if handled right."
34. "Plan should show and explain use of current parking lot next to jail for court expansion as Mr. Ware
explained."
35. "I would hate to see our history (Tribune Building and Red Pig) be sacrificed to this project. However,
keeping this jail should remain downtown to keep downtown vibrant."
