Cabarrus County Department of Aging

MEMORANDUM

To:

Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners

From:

Michael L. Murphy, CIRS-A

Date: June 1, 2004

Subject: Budget Amendment - Consumer Directed Services

Please find the attached Budget Amendment request for the Department of Aging. This request
provides funding adjustments that will allow our department to utilize resources that were
previously allocated for our new Consumer Directed Services program to continue to meet the
client's needs through our established services delivery system. As you are aware, the
Department of Aging and the Department of Social Services have joined together to develop one
of four Consumer Directed Services Pilot Projects through a grant from the North Carolina
Department of Health and Human Services. The start date for this project has been delayed by
the North Carolina Division of Aging until July 2004.

The attached Budget Amendment request will allow the Department of Aging to continue to
serve our clients until the implementation of the Consumer Directed Services program in FY'05.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Your continued support of the Cabarrus County
Department of Aging and services for the older adults of Cabarrus County is sincerely
appreciated.

PO Box 707.
