Murphy, CIRS-A ~ <br /> <br />June 1, 2004 <br /> <br />Budget Amendment - Family Friends Grant <br /> <br />Please find the attached Budget Amendmem request for the Department of Aging Family Friends <br />program. This proposal represents funding for the first six momhs of a 30-momh grant fumed <br />project. The Department of Aging was awarded this grant by the National Council on the Aging <br />and the Administration on Aging in Washington, D. C. These funds will allow us to develop a <br />new program that utilizes the skills and resources of older adult volunteers to provide assistance <br />to local families of children with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses. We have developed a <br />partnership with the Arc of Cabarrus that will allow us to identify eligible families in Cabarms <br />County. The Department of Aging will identify, recruit and train the senior volunteers that will <br />work with these families. <br /> <br />The Family Friends grant that was awarded to the Department of Aging totals $170,700 over 2 % <br />years.
