The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular <br />session in the Commissioners' Meeting Room at the Cabarrus County <br />Governmental Center in Concord, North Carolina on Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at <br />6:30 p.m. The Board had changed the date of the regular meeting at its <br />meeting on May 31, 2004. <br /> <br />Present - Chairman: Robert M. Freeman <br /> Vice Chairman. Richard D. Suggs <br /> Commlssloners: Carolyn B Carpenter <br /> Robert W. Carruth <br /> Coy C. Privette <br /> <br /> Also present were John D. Day, County Manager; <br />County Attorney; Frankie F. Bonds, Clerk to the Board, <br />Deputy Clerk to the Board. <br /> <br />Marilyn D. Porter, <br />and Kay Honeycutt, <br /> <br />Chairman Freeman called the meeting to order at 6.35 p.m. <br /> <br />Revered Gene Boelte gave the Invocation. <br /> <br /> Lewis Williams, Veterans Service Officer, and three former Prisoners of <br />War led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />(A) APPROVAL OR CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br /> <br /> U~ON MOTION of Commissioner Prlvette, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the minutes of May 17, 2004 <br />(Regular Meeting) and May 24, 2004 (Recessed Meeting) as written. <br /> <br />(B) A~PROVAL OF THE AGENDA <br /> <br /> ~IPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner <br />Carpenter and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Agenda with the <br />addition of the following items: (C-6) - Proclamation Designating June 13- <br />19, 2004 as "Concord - Ail American City Week"; and (C-7) Proclamation - June <br />14 as "The 229c~ Birthday of the United States Army". <br /> <br />(C) RECOGNITIONS AND PRESENTATIONS <br /> <br />(C-1) Retirement Recoc~ition of James Faggart, EMS Paramedic <br /> <br /> David Hampton, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Director, recognized <br />James Faggart on his retirement from EMS and expressed appreciation for his <br />25 years of dedicated service to Cabarrus County. He presented Mr. Faggart <br />with a plaque from the Board of Commissioners and one from EMS. Further, Mr. <br />Faggart's EMS badge was retired. <br /> <br />(C-2) Reco~nition of GIS Manager Cathy Cole and GIS Analyst Bill Fredenberg <br />for Receiving GIS Professional Certification <br /> <br /> Jean Kennedy, Information Technology (IT) Director, recognized Cathy <br />Cole and Ball Fredenberg for receiving a professional certification from the <br />Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Certification Institute. She reviewed <br />the numerous educational and professional requlrements that were completed by <br />Ms. Cole and Mr. Fredenberg in order to obtain this certification. <br /> <br />(C-3) Recognition of Chasit¥ SchoolsZ, Aging Programs Coordinator, for <br />Receiving the Supervisor of the Year Award from the N. C. Association of <br /> <br />Aging <br /> <br /> Mike Murphy, Director of Aging Services, presented a Certiflcate of <br />Recognition to Chasity Schooley for receiving the 2004 Supervisor of the Year <br />Award from the North Carolina Association of Aging. He expressed <br />appreciation for Ms. Schooley's outstanding servlce to the older adults of <br />Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />(C-4) Recognition of Mike Murphy, Director of Aging Services, and Susan <br />Donaldson, Aging Center Manager, for Receiving the Processional Desic[nation <br />of Certified Senior Center Manager <br /> <br /> <br />
