<br />CABARRUSCOUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />LITTER SWEEP 2004 <br /> <br />A PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation annually organizes a fall <br />state roadside litter cleanup to ensure clean and beautiful roads in North Carolina; and <br /> <br />,) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Fall 2004 LITTER SWEEP roadside cleanup will take place September <br />18 - October 3, 2004 and encourage civic and professional groups, churches, schools, families, <br />businesses and individual citizens to participate by organizing cleanups in their cQmmunities; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the LITTER SWEEP cleanup will educate and encourage the children of <br />Cabarrus County regarding the importance of a clean environment to the quality of life for the <br />citizens of this county; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the cleanup will raise awareness of the need for cleaner roadsides, <br />emphasize the importance of not littering, and encourage recycling of solid wastes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the 2004 fall cleanup will celebrate the 16th anniversary of the North <br />Carolina Adopt-A-Highway program and the thousands of volunteers who contribute their time <br />and labor year round to keep our roadsides clean. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />proclaim September 18 - October 3,2004, as "LITTER SWEEP" time in Cabarrus County, and <br />urge all citizens to participate in making our roadsides clean and reducing and recycling solid <br />wastes. <br /> <br />This the 20th day of September 2004. <br /> <br />Robert M.
