Contract for the Department of <br />Social Service.' <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously c"rried, the Board approved the renewal contract with the <br />Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas for the emergency placement of <br />children in foster care for FY 2005 in the amount of $209,341.00; and <br />authorized the Chairman to execute the contract as drafted by the County <br />Attorney. <br /> <br />(F-l0) Proclamatiqn - <br />October 3, 2004 <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of. Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation: <br /> <br />"Litter Sweep. <br /> <br />in CaJ:Iarru. County - September 18- <br /> <br />LITTER SWEEP 2004 <br />A PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation annually <br />organizes a fall state roadside litter cleanup to ensure clean and beautiful <br />roads in North Carølina; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the: Fall 2004 LITTER SWEEP roadside cleanup will take place <br />September 18 - OcUOber 3, 2004 and encourage civic and professional groups, <br />churches, school., families, businesses and individual citizens to <br />participate by organizing cleanups in their communities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the LITTER SWEEP cleanup will .educate and encourage the <br />children of Cabarrus County regarding the importance of a clean environment <br />to the quality of life for the citizens of this county;. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the .cleanup will raise awareness of the need for cleaner <br />roadsides, emphasize the importance of not littering, and encourage recycling <br />of solid wastes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the 2004 fall cleanup will celebrate the 16th anniversary of <br />the North Carolina Adopt-A-Highway program and the thousands of volunteers <br />who contribute the~r time and labor year round to keep our roadsidesclean. <br /> <br />.
