Special Emergency Assistance (EA) Provision for Displaced Workers <br />Due to Plant Closures, Large-Scale Layoffs, or Natural Disasters (This <br />provision is not continuously in effect, and can onlybe enacted on the <br />authority of the Director): .) <br />The special provision of EA for families where the wage earner is displaced <br />due to a plant closure, large-scale layoff, or natural disaster has specific <br />eligibility requirements that must be followed in order to access the increased <br />benefits funding. The requirements and benefits are as follows: <br />1. Gross household income must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty <br />level. See income table below: <br /> <br />Family size* 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 <br />Max. Monthly <br />Income $1,552 $2,082 $2,612 $3,142 $3,672 $4,202 $4,732 $5,262 <br /> <br />*For each additional member, add $530.00. <br /> <br />2. Household may not have over $2,000.00 in reserve. Reserve in this case is <br />defined as cash on hand, savings accounts, and/or checking accounts. <br />3. Income, reserve and outstanding bills must be verifiable through the <br />following methods that are applicable in each situation: <br />a) Pay stubs for all household members, using Work First kinship rules <br />b) Most recent bank statement <br />c) Unemployment Benefits Award Letter <br />d) Family must have outstanding verifiable bills <br />4. Families receiving benefits must receive budgetary counseling, which will <br />be provided through Consumer Credit Counseling. <br />5. Family must have a plan in place to meet their ongoing needs. <br />6. Wage eamer(s) must be involved in an organized program for re- <br />employment, when appropriate and available and provided. <br />7. Specific benefits of Special Provision: <br />a) Benefit payments may be up to but not exceeding $1,200.00 for <br />various critical expenses during a 12-month period.
